What else could happen? This trade deadline action for Minnesota hinges around Hernandez. If anything “major” is going to happen, it is most likely going to involve this veteran innings eater.A team like the New York Yankees or the Chicago Cubs could trade for him and place them in their shaky rotations in an attempt to stable things out. Minnesota probably wouldn’t have much of a bargaining opportunity if major market teams like these express any interest in Hernandez. The Twins could also deal for an infielder with lots of pop. Casey Blake comes to mind, as he could help this team both this year and into the future. Minnesota could get him rather cheap, possibly even while cutting ties with Hernandez.Andy LaRoche is another possibility.
He is described as a “power hitting third baseman” and recently came back from an injury involving his thumb.Whatever Minnesota does, it will be very fun to watch. This team could go three ways before the deadline: fall out of contention and become sellers, gain ground from Chicago and become buyers, or stay right in the middle and “do what we do”.What do you think Minnesota should do, if anything?. Oregon Certified Sustainable Wine Website Launches on Earth DayPORTLAND, Ore., April 22 /PRNewswire/ — Today, in 1970, the first Earth Daycelebration was held, marking the dawn of the modern environmental movement. In keeping with that spirit, the Oregon Certified Sustainable Wine (OCSW)program today launches , a website and first step in a movement tohelp consumers understand sustainable farming and winemaking, from vine tobottle. OCSW was created in 2008 to increase awareness, communicate theimportance and guarantee of certification and encourage distribution ofsustainable wines so consumers can access them.Currently, 11 Oregon wineries have earned OCSW certification, totaling nearly450,000 bottles of wine. Wineries include Adelsheim Vineyard, Amity Vineyards,Anne Amie Vineyards, Bethel Heights Vineyard, Cristom Vineyards, MontinoreEstate, Panther Creek Cellars, Ponzi Vineyards, WillaKenzie Estate, WillametteValley Vineyards and Wooldridge Creek Winery. The website is intended to start a conversation about the shared principles ofresponsible farming and winemaking, as well as the importance of thethird-party certification. The site is designed to engage and build awareness of sustainability as itapplies to the wine industry. Social media tools such as Facebook and Twitterwill also be deployed to help build the grassroots communication among wineconsumers. In partnership with certification agencies throughout the state, OCSW enablesproducers to clearly communicate these practices in an understandable manner, highlight shared principles among the various certification philosophies andforge relationships with consumers who make environmental awareness or actiona priority. The OCSW logo guarantees that the wine in that bottle was madeusing responsible agriculture and responsible winemaking practices andcertified by an independent third party.”Our direct relationships with consumers allow us to have the conversationsthat change minds,” says Pat Dudley of Bethel Heights Vineyard.
Furthermore, he has even offered to lower his asking rate in order to ensure that Jamison gets paid. While Gilbert’s sincerity is admirable, it is also a little questionable because by demanding a max deal, he has put the Wizards in the questionable position of maybe having to choose between Jamison and himself. So the central question is, who do the Wizards need more, Antawn Jamison or Gilbert Arenas?Gilbert missed most of last year following a knee surgery and his return, while widely heralded as a possible lightning rod for the Wizards to rally around, has since drawn criticism. It has been said, even amongst Wizards fan circles, that Gilbert’s larger than life personality overshadowed the team spirit andcamaraderie developed by the Wizards going into the playoffs. They were playing better team defense, relying less on steals, and committing less turnovers. Finally, Arenas has always been a shoot first point guard, focusing more on his point total than the assists he hands out perhaps not the best mentality for a point guard. On the other hand, no one can fault Eddie Jordan, the Wizards’ head coach, for inserting Arenas into the lineup almost immediately following his return. Arenas is undoubtedly one of the most underrated superstars in the league, if not a top five player.
